As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our lives, the City of Stratford Social Services Department wants to remind residents of Stratford, St. Marys and Perth County that programs are available to provide financial assistance for arrears related to rental costs and utility costs.
These programs are available for low-income residents who are struggling to pay their rent and are at risk of eviction. If you have missed a payment or have been unable to make a payment on your primary residence for your rental costs, mortgage costs or utility costs, you may be eligible for assistance with these items.
Director of Social Services Kim McElroy is encouraging individuals to call the Social Services office to see if they are eligible for this program. “It is important that we address this issue before the arrears end up costing individuals and families in our community their housing,” said Ms. McElroy.
How to apply? Contact the Social Services Department at 519-271-3773 extension 200 to see if you are eligible for assistance.
